At the ferry quay on Værlandet there is a loose rock block of about 1 m³, which was deposited there during the last Ice Age. It consists of eclogite, which comes from the mainland farther east. The nearest known eclogite occurrence is in Askvoll municipality, about 15 km east of Værlandet. Eclogite forms under high pressure and temperature, corresponding to a crustal depth of 60–100 km.
