At this site, you find ripple marks in the Devonian sandstone, a feature often seen in modern environments such as riverbeds, tidal flats and shoreline zones. These ripple marks are preserved in a sandstone layer within a conglomerate formation and indicate that the basin in the Devonian probably contained water, or that there was a lake on the valley floor.
